⚠️ Beach Closure Update – Harry S. Truman Dam & Reservoir

Due to recent rainfall and rising lake levels, Thibaut Point Beach and Long Shoal Beach are closed effective this morning.

As of 8:00 a.m. today, Truman Lake is at 713.52 feet, which is above the elevation threshold for safe beach operations. Both beaches will remain closed until lake levels recede and Truman Lake drops below elevation 713.0 feet.

Currently, for USACE Shawnee Bend Beach is the only designated swim beach open at Truman Lake. May check with State Park in regard to their facilities.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we prioritize visitor safety. Check back here for the latest recreation area updates and beach status information.

Great news! The Harry S. Truman Visitor Center will officially reopen tomorrow, Friday, April 24th! We are thrilled to welcome our community back!

Operating Hours Reminder:
Our regular spring and summer operating hours are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. April 15th to September 30th.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who worked so hard to make this reopening possible. Our incredible maintenance team has been working tirelessly on debris cleanup and well restoration. Please note that we are also working diligently on restoring the windows to the building to ensure everything is back to standard.

A huge thank you goes out to the hardworking linemen for safely restoring our power, to our dedicated park rangers for their major efforts with the campground cleanup and keeping up with the docks during a rapid elevation increase and ensuring public safety, and to our local first responders for their swift efforts and dedication during and after the storms. Finally, we are so grateful for our wonderful volunteers who are back operating the front desks to greet you all.

To our amazing community—thank you for your patience and support as we worked to make the facility safe again. We look forward to seeing you this weekend! Please travel safely and enjoy your visit.

🌧️ In light of another rainy day in Benton County, here’s a flashback to our beloved Steamboat Landing in Warsaw, MO.

In the mid-1800s, Warsaw was a bustling river port where steamboats like The Wave and Pearl No. 2 carried goods and passengers along the Osage. Today, Steamboat Landing has been reimagined as a scenic boardwalk connecting our trails and waterfront. 💙
