Sometimes the best roofing solution starts by fixing what isn't the roof.

This historic Washington, DC home had decades of repairs, rooftop additions, and an HVAC unit sitting directly on the original 100-year-old metal roof. Instead of simply replacing the roof, we solved the real problem first by properly supporting the HVAC equipment with structural steel.

With the underlying issue corrected, we installed a new Elevate TPO roofing system, new VELUX skylights, and restored the existing rooftop ductwork.

A great roofing project isn't just about new materials—it's about solving the problems that caused the damage in the first place.

Not every roof needs to be replaced.

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is helping clients get the most life out of their existing roofing systems when it's the right solution.

This project at a school in the Washington, DC area is a perfect example. After maintaining this campus for years, we knew the existing modified bitumen roof still had plenty of service life left. Instead of recommending a costly tear-off, we restored it with a GACO S4200 silicone roof restoration system.

The results speak for themselves:
Significant cost savings compared to a full replacement
Minimal disruption to daily school operations
Thousands of pounds of material kept out of the landfill
A seamless roof designed to stand up to the elements.

We're especially excited to monitor the building's performance moving forward. The original black roof absorbed tremendous heat during the summer. With the new highly reflective white silicone system, we expect lower roof temperatures, reduced heat transfer into the building, lower cooling costs, and a more comfortable environment for students and faculty. Because we've cared for this campus for years, we'll be able to compare these improvements against our historical data.

The best roofing solution isn't always a complete replacement. It's making the right recommendation based on experience, honest evaluation, and what's truly best for the client.

🐄 Meet Moo! 🖤🤍

Moo is a 5-month-old bundle of love with the cutest cow spots and an even sweeter personality! This happy boy is always ready for his next adventure, whether it's exploring the neighborhood on a walk, playing with his favorite toys, or curling up for a well-earned nap.

Moo is eager to learn and loves making his people happy. He is house trained, already knows "sit" and is working hard on "shake." He's also making great progress with leash training and absolutely loves going on walks.

With his willingness to learn and positive attitude, he'll be a wonderful companion for a family excited to continue his training.

Moo is playful, affectionate, and enjoys being wherever his people are. His gentle nature, happy spirit, and expressive face make him impossible not to love.

If you're looking for a loyal best friend who's smart, eager to please, and ready to grow alongside you, Moo might just be your perfect match. ❤️🐾

Not every roof needs to be replaced.
And not every roof is a good candidate for a coating system either.

This one landed right in the middle.

The roof wasn’t failing, but it wasn’t in great shape either. It still had some serviceable life left, so instead of pushing a full replacement or full coating system, we focused on what actually made sense.

We addressed seams, penetrations, flashings, and the major problem areas using Gaco products to extend its performance and protect the building.

Could we have sold a full coating system? Yes.
Would it have been the right long-term solution? No.

There’s existing moisture in the insulation and two roofing systems already in place. Installing a full coating over a compromised substrate would have created bigger issues down the road.

This solution gives the building owner a few more years adding time to plan, budget properly, and make a smart capital decision instead of reacting under pressure.

Sometimes the best value isn’t the biggest job.
It’s the right recommendation.

When roofing turns into improvisation, the problems don’t disappear—they just get hidden.

This photo is a real-world example of what we see far too often in the roofing industry. Shingles installed over a ridge vent… then “corrected” with another metal assembly layered on top. This is NOT our work, but it’s a great example of shortcuts replacing proper craftsmanship.

Instead of fixing the ventilation and ridge termination the right way, someone stacked materials to cover the issue. The result?

❌ Trapped airflow
❌ Poor drainage
❌ Multiple long-term failure points

More material doesn’t equal a better solution, it usually just delays the failure. Quality roofing means solving the problem at the source, not hiding it and hoping for the best.
