Be careful when Googling Locksmiths. Most of the top listings are paid scammers. They actually bury legitimate Locksmith businesses.

Make sure that your landlord has changed the locks, before you move in. But once you move in, you must not change the locks. Otherwise any damages that occur, when your landlord can’t get into your unit, in an emergency, can be your fault, and charged against your deposit.

Yes, these people are out there.

The same goes for keys & lock rekeying. Once our materials and/or time has been used, we can never get them back. Instead of trying to shortchange skilled tradesmen, just kick yourself for poor life decisions.
