This has been a really fun design to iterate on. This wooden journal was a project I've wanted to make for myself for some time. Once a friend saw it, he had to have one in a smaller journal size. And of course, my oldest needed one as well.
3/8 cedar ply edge banded. The original metal rings were too unruly, so I swapped out for flexible cable key rings.
Solid and with Moroccans noticeable weight, you won't leave this journal behind.

Apparently, I can stop making trays and just sell this leftover can of wax!
For my dark softwood trays, I've stuck with my tried and true Danish oil and paste wax. Now that this wax isn't available, I may transition these to hardwax oil as well.

I had the opportunity to try another finish in my journey to find the perfect product for my trays.
I heard about Natura Onecoat in a article.
The finish applied very similar to Rubio, with a shorter absorption time, a beautiful richness of color and a low satiny sheen. All for about 40% less than Rubio.
I am impressed. This very well may be the one I stick with!
Have you tried this product out yet? Is there another hardwax oil on the market I should test?

Every time I have to work above my head, I am so grateful for this 12v driver. It is so much easier to use for repetitive work like this.
If you don't have a set of self centering bits like these, I would highly recommend you pick up a set. Even a cheap Amazon set like this will make sure your screws go in straight and flush.
