As we roll into pre-heat season here in DFW, this is the perfect time to get your system checked before that first cold snap hits. When you kick the heat on for the first time and smell that burnt dust smell, that’s usually your heater burning off dust and debris that’s been sitting all year… but sometimes it can be a warning sign too 👀
Here’s what I’m offering for pre-heat season:
• Full heat inspection
• Cleaning burners and blower assemblies
• Checking electric heat strips, contactors, sequencers, and safeties
• Testing all limit switches and verifying temperature rise
• Checking gas pressure and ensuring proper combustion (for gas systems)
• Verifying blower speeds and airflow
• Thermostat function check
• Replacing filters
• Looking for weak components before they leave you without heat
Why get it done now instead of waiting?
• That “burnt smell” can be normal, but it can also be dirt on the heat exchanger or overheating components
• Dust buildup on heat strips can cause hot spots and failures
• Weak capacitors and motors show their true colors when heat season hits
• Safety limits trip more often when systems haven’t been maintained
• Prevents emergency breakdowns when temps drop
• Peace of mind knowing your system is ready to go
If your heat hasn’t kicked on in months, trust me, it’s better to find out now than when it’s freezing outside 😂
