🖨️ New printer installed, but getting it connected is where the trouble starts?

A new Canon imageCLASS printer may look ready to go, but proper setup involves more than plugging it in. Wi-Fi connection, Windows detection, the correct driver, and printer settings all need to work together.

If your printer is offline, not connecting to Wi-Fi, not showing on your computer, or simply refusing to print, the problem may be in the setup, not the printer itself.

MicroSec® provides remote printer setup and troubleshooting to help get your printer connected and working properly without the frustration of figuring it out alone.

⚠️ Adobe InDesign suddenly says it can’t perform an operation on your file?

Don’t delete the project and start over just yet.

An InDesign error like this can have several possible causes, from a damaged project file or problematic linked asset to font conflicts, permissions, or an issue within the application itself.

The important part is to diagnose the cause before making changes that could put the project at further risk.

At MicroSec®, we remotely troubleshoot software errors, application problems, file-access issues, and other Windows and Mac computer problems.

💻 Seeing an error you don’t know how to fix? Give MicroSec® a call and let’s see what’s actually causing it.

📶 Wi-Fi Connected But Your Computer Still Has No Internet? The Problem May Be Inside the PC.

When internet problems start, the router usually gets blamed first. But your computer’s Wi-Fi adapter, network driver, or Windows network configuration can also cause:

• Wi-Fi suddenly disappearing
• Frequent disconnects
• “Connected, no internet” errors
• Slow or unstable connections
• Wi-Fi working on other devices but not your PC

This Device Manager view is one of the places technicians check to determine whether Windows is properly detecting and communicating with the network hardware.

Before replacing your router or your computer, it’s worth diagnosing the actual cause.

💻 MicroSec® provides remote computer troubleshooting and Wi-Fi/network support nationwide.

🖨️Printer showing as installed but still won’t print?

Seeing your printer under Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners only confirms that Windows recognizes a printer entry. It doesn’t always mean the printer is actually ready to communicate.

If printing suddenly stops, check:

✅ Is the correct printer selected?
✅ Does Windows show a driver or connection error?
✅ Is an old/duplicate printer still installed?
✅ Is the printer connected to the correct Wi-Fi network?
✅ Are documents stuck in the print queue?

Sometimes removing an outdated printer entry, correcting the driver, or reconnecting the printer properly is all it takes.

If you’ve already tried the basics and your printer still won’t cooperate, MicroSec® can remotely troubleshoot the Windows, driver, queue, and network side of the problem.

📩 Message MicroSec® to see if your printer issue can be resolved remotely.

🍎 When Your Mac Says “Backup Delayed,” There May Be More Going On

A Time Machine backup problem isn’t always caused by the backup drive itself. In Denese’s case, the issue required checking the external drives, reviewing backup errors, and identifying an iCloud syncing issue that was interfering with the process.

Most importantly, the troubleshooting was handled carefully so the files already stored on the external drives weren’t put at risk, and Time Machine was successfully backing up again.

⭐ Thank you, Denese Albracht, for trusting MicroSec® and sharing your experience. We’re glad we could get things working again when you needed your Mac for an important project.

🔐 BitLocker Recovery Screen Showing a Key ID? Don’t Guess Which Key to Use

If you’ve used the same Microsoft account on multiple Windows computers, you may find multiple BitLocker recovery keys associated with your account.

So how do you know which one belongs to the computer that’s asking for a key?

Look at the Key ID displayed on the BitLocker recovery screen and compare it with the Key ID listed with your saved recovery keys. The matching ID helps you identify the correct recovery key for that device.

A few things to remember:

✅ Don’t randomly try recovery keys
✅ Compare the Key ID, not just the device name
✅ Keep recovery keys private
✅ Never post an unblurred screenshot of your recovery key online

💡 Why the Key ID matters: It helps identify which recovery key Windows is requesting; it is not the recovery key itself.

Stuck on a BitLocker recovery screen or unsure which recovery key your computer needs?

🚨 Fake Virus Pop-Ups Aren’t Just Annoying; One Wrong Click Can Become a Real Problem.

“Your computer is infected.”
“Virus detected.”
“Call support immediately.”

These warnings are designed to create panic and make you click before you have time to think.

A good antivirus is important, but antivirus alone may not stop every malicious website, deceptive ad, or browser-based scam.

That’s why an extra layer of browser protection can help.

🛡️ uBlock Origin Lite helps reduce intrusive ads and unwanted web content.
🛡️ Malwarebytes Browser Guard helps block scams, malicious websites, trackers, and other browser-based threats.

The goal isn’t to install dozens of security tools. It’s to build layers of protection so that a suspicious website has fewer chances of reaching you in the first place.

⚠️ Already seeing constant virus alerts or strange pop-ups?

Don’t click the warning, don’t call the number shown, and don’t install anything it recommends.

MicroSec® can remotely help identify the source of suspicious pop-ups, clean up unwanted software, and improve your browser and computer security.

🔒 “You Can Leak Private Information Without Sharing Your Password.”

A simple screenshot of File Explorer, Dropbox, or Google Drive may reveal more information than you realize.

Folder names can expose client names, project details, legal or financial documents, while the address bar and sidebar may reveal your Windows username, computer information, or internal network details.

Before posting or sending a screenshot:

✅ Blur client and customer names
✅ Hide usernames and account information
✅ Cover private folder and file names
✅ Hide IP addresses and network paths
✅ Check the entire screen, not just the area you’re discussing

MicroSec® Tip: Always review screenshots before sharing them online. A few seconds of redaction can prevent private information from becoming public.

Need help keeping your computer and personal information more secure? MicroSec® provides remote computer support and security assistance.

Windows Asking You to “Enter Your Recovery Key”? 🔐

If your Windows computer suddenly shows a BitLocker recovery screen, don’t confuse the recovery key with your normal Windows password.

A BitLocker recovery key is a 48-digit key used to unlock a protected Windows drive. If it was backed up to your Microsoft account, you can check for it here:

Keep in mind: the key may not always be stored in your Microsoft account. Depending on how the computer was set up, it may have been saved elsewhere or managed by a work or school organization.

Quick takeaway: Windows password ≠ BitLocker recovery key.
