Final results from this irrigation install in Prague, NE.

One thing that made this project different: a propane gas line ran right through the area we needed to cross. Before any digging started, our crew located the line, marked it, and carefully dug across it by hand to make sure everything stayed safe.

It's not always something you see in the final result, but it's part of what goes into a proper sprinkler system installation near existing utility lines.

When Molly's family called for a quote to relocate a few sprinkler lines and heads, Alternate Rain was immediately interested in helping. As soon as Jackie heard it was for Molly's Make A Wish project, she told them Alternate Rain would donate the materials and labor, before she even knew the full scope of the job. She just wanted to help.

The work was part of a bigger wish: a larger, more accessible backyard patio where Molly could spend more time outside with her family. Donating our time meant more of Make A Wish Nebraska's funds could go toward granting another family's wish.

We moved the lines before construction began, then came back out to reconnect everything once the new patio was in. Now Molly's family has a safe, shaded, accessible space where they spend countless hours together, including some of Molly's PT and OT sessions.

Boring is the best thing that can happen to your parking lot. 🚜

When irrigation line has to run under a sidewalk, driveway, or established turf, you have two options. Trench it and repair the damage, or bore under it and leave the surface intact.

That's what the Alternate Rain team was doing at Relevant Church. Directional boring drives new line beneath hardscape and lawn with only small entry and exit pits: no cut concrete, no torn-up grass, no re-sodding before a big Sunday.

Less restoration means lower cost, shorter timelines, and a property that stays usable while we work.

Tree roots vs. sprinkler line… roots usually win. 🌳💧

As trees mature, their roots search out the most consistent water source on your property, and that's often your irrigation line. Over time roots can wrap, crush, or shift a pipe or sprinkler head, which shows up as low pressure, a head that won't pop up all the way, a soggy patch that never dries, or one zone quietly costing you on the water bill.

The fix isn't just swapping the head. Our tech excavates around the affected area, clears the root intrusion, repairs or reroutes the line away from the root zone, and resets the head to proper grade so the spray pattern clears the trunk instead of soaking it.

If you have mature trees in your yard, it's worth having your system checked before roots turn a small repair into a rebuilt zone.
