The mantel’s ready for Halloween. The pilot assembly still needed attention. Jason from Full Time is cleaning this Heat & Glo 6000TR-OAK gas fireplace while Valerie checks on the job.

🔥 THE IGNITER WASN’T TURNING ON. BUT IT WASN’T THE PROBLEM.

That’s what our technician found on a no-heat call involving an approximately 15-year-old Rheem furnace in St. Bonifacius, MN.

The igniter wasn’t consistently turning on, but troubleshooting revealed the real problem. The furnace’s control board was only sending power to the igniter intermittently.

Our technician replaced the faulty control board and tested the furnace. The burners fired up, the heat was back on, and no other issues were found.

Just because a furnace is 15 years old doesn’t mean it’s time for a new one. Sometimes it just needs the right repair.

The new guy wasn’t thrilled about commercial rooftop maintenance. It was 60°, sunny, and the trees were showing off.

We suspect anyone who’s done this in January would like a word.

🔥 THE PILOT LIGHT WAS ON. SO WHY WOULDN’T THE FIREPLACE WORK?

That was the problem with this Heat & Glo propane fireplace in Mayer, MN.

The pilot assembly was so dirty that it wasn’t producing enough heat to activate the thermopile, the small component that helps turn on the main burner.

Our technician cleaned the pilot assembly, completed the fireplace cleaning and inspection, and tested everything.

The result? The fireplace fired right up without needing any replacement parts.

Total cost: $295 for the cleaning and inspection.

Sometimes the fix isn’t a new part. It’s figuring out why the parts you already have aren’t doing their job.

He’s learning the trade faster than we’re coming up with a job title.

Our high school helper has been with Full Time almost six months. We’ve affectionately called him “the gopher,” but he’s earned a title that gives him a little more credit.

He asks good questions, keeps learning, and is becoming someone we can count on. We’re proud to have him on the team.

Apparently, fixing furnaces is easier for us than naming positions.

What job title would you give him?
