We'd like to introduce you to someone!

Most of the time when you see a finished Lee Lyn Construction project, you see the end result.

The kitchen that finally works for the way a family lives.

The bathroom that feels like it was always meant to look that way.

The mudroom that can actually survive a Minnesota winter.

What you don't always see are the people behind the scenes who help make those projects possible.

We've had the privilege of working with Crimson Copper Plumbing for the past 7 years, and they're one of those trade partners we trust completely.

Owner Mike and his team bring an incredible level of professionalism, integrity, and dedication to every project they're part of. They care deeply about their customers and consistently deliver quality work that we feel confident standing behind.

One thing our clients may not realize is that when we're planning a remodel, many selections haven't been made yet, including plumbing fixtures. Crimson Copper Plumbing does a great job helping us build realistic allowances based on current product pricing so clients can budget more accurately from the start.

And when clients choose to purchase fixtures through Crimson Copper Plumbing, there's an added benefit: they stand behind the products they install. If an issue comes up after the project is complete, their team handles the warranty process and service calls, saving homeowners the headache of trying to navigate it on their own.

It's partnerships like these that help us create a smoother experience for our clients from start to finish.

We're grateful to work alongside businesses that care about people as much as they care about quality craftsmanship.

Featured here are fixtures sourced through Ferguson and installed by the team at Crimson Copper Plumbing.

What does it look like to design a home for the long haul?

Not just for right now and for who you are today, with the life you're living today. But for twenty years from now. Thirty.

For the season of life where the stairs start to feel different, or the bathroom that was perfectly fine at 45 doesn't work as well at 70.

I think about this a lot, especially here in Minnesota. Because we don't leave. That's just who we are. We put down roots. We stay in our neighborhoods, close to our people, in the homes we've built our lives inside of. And I love that about us.

But it means we have a responsibility when we're making design decisions, which is to think further ahead than most people naturally do.
A wider doorway here. A curbless shower there. Lighting that actually works as eyes change. Flooring that isn't a hazard when balance becomes something you think about.

None of it has to look clinical. None of it has to feel like a compromise. Done right, it just feels like a home that was built thoughtfully. For a real person. For a whole life.

If you're in a home you love and plan to stay in, this is a conversation worth having sooner than you think. I'd be happy to be the one you have it with.

There’s something special about homes that have been lived in for a long time.

You can feel the memories in them. The kids who grew up there. The holidays hosted around the table. The routines and seasons of life that unfolded within those walls.

This family had lived in their early-1900s home for many years. It’s smaller and compact, with just two bedrooms and one full bathroom on the main floor. Their kids are grown now and have children of their own, and recently, life started looking a little different for them.

After a health diagnosis, they knew it was time to make some changes to help their home better support this next season of life.

One of the biggest priorities was replacing their bathtub with a walk-in/roll-in shower for easier accessibility. They also had always dreamed of having a built-in closet for better storage and honestly, this one turned out spectacular. There’s something so calming about having everything tucked away and intentional. Luxury really is in the details sometimes.

What I love most about this remodel is that every decision had a purpose behind it. This wasn’t about creating a showroom-perfect space. It was about creating a home that fit the life they’re living now.

And side note… this home only has ONE bathroom, which meant we had to be extra thoughtful during construction. We kept their existing shower functional for as long as possible so they wouldn’t have to deal with setting up a temporary shower during the remodel. Once the new shower space was finished, we demoed the old one and completely flipped the layout from the original setup.

Projects like this are why we love what we do. Helping people stay in the homes they love, just in a way that works better for them now.

When your home is about to be filled with family, friends, and people celebrating a big milestone, you start seeing all the little things you’ve wanted to update for years.

This family has a daughter graduating this spring and decided it was finally time to tackle a few of those projects they’d been talking about for a long time.

✔️ A large new living room window to better showcase their backyard
✔️ A new deck to enjoy meals and gatherings al fresco this summer
✔️ And next up, a brand new concrete driveway

It’s always exciting seeing these projects come together just in time for some really special memories to be made at home.

One thing Dana says during a lot of consultations:
“Just because you can do something to a space doesn’t always mean you should.”

Sometimes the best solution is simpler than what people originally had in mind.
Sometimes it’s reworking the layout instead of adding on.
Sometimes it’s focusing the budget on the areas that will make the biggest impact day to day.

Our approach has always been about helping clients make decisions that make sense for them, not just trying to make a project bigger.

Originally, this kitchen had a pantry and desk built into the wall, along with an awkward half wall that didn’t really have a purpose.

Together, we decided to open everything up and replace it with one large statement island, and it completely changed the feel and function of the home.

We’re curious...

What’s one thing in your home or workspace that you wish functioned better?

Not even a full remodel. Just something that would make day-to-day life easier.

We hear some really creative ideas during consultations, and honestly, sometimes it’s the smallest changes that make the biggest difference.

A project like this is the perfect example of how thoughtful design can completely transform a space.

We were hired to rework this townhome mudroom into something far more functional for the homeowners. Their goal was to create a better “drop zone” while still keeping the space practical as a laundry room, all while making the laundry area take up less room overall.

A lot of clients come to us not knowing exactly what they want to change. And that’s okay.

What they do have is a goal for how they want their space to function.

And that’s where we come in.

We walk through the space, take measurements, and start figuring out what actually makes sense design-wise, structurally, and for how you’ll use it day to day.

From there, we guide next steps. Sometimes that’s renderings or plans, sometimes it’s a rough estimate to help you decide what feels right.

And throughout the entire process, we’re looking at every decision the same way we would if it were our own space.
Not just “what can we do?”
But “what should we do for this client?”

Because sometimes the best outcome isn’t the biggest project. It’s the one that works best for you.

We updated this kitchen with new appliances, countertops, backsplash, and fresh paint throughout. The homeowner wanted to remove the plate display, so we reconfigured the cabinets with a custom cabinet company without redoing the entire kitchen.

The result? A completely refreshed space that feels brand new.

A lot of people don’t start a remodel because they can’t picture the end result clearly enough.

They’re stuck somewhere between:
→ “I know this isn’t working anymore”
→ “I don’t know exactly what to do instead”

That middle space keeps projects on hold way longer than they need to be.

You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need a goal for how you want your space to feel or function.

From there, we can help you work through the rest.

If you could change ONE thing about your space (no budget limits)… what would it be?

I built and designed our home, and we have lived in it for about 5 years now. And even still… there are a few things I’d go back and change:

- I’d switch up a few things in the kitchen and add a wall of windows to bring in more natural light and better views.
- Add a few more character details like beams, a fireplace mantel, and a statement ceiling.
- Create a little more space where life tends to spill over (garage storage and deck space, for sure).
- And maybe even finally add those “someday” ideas like a firepit or sauna.

But at the same time, there’s still so much I love about our home. The layout, the finishes, the overall vibe.

This is something I talk through with clients a lot. Your home doesn’t have to be perfect to be something you truly love living in.

Now I’m curious! What’s the ONE thing you’d change about your space if you could? Leave your responses in the comments below!

Thinking about starting a remodel… but not totally sure where to start or how?

Most clients come in with a goal for their home or space, not a fully formed plan. From there, we help guide the direction based on what will actually work best.

Here’s what the process typically looks like:

• Initial consult (about an hour)
We walk your space, take measurements, and talk through your goals, even if they’re still a little unclear.

• Planning + possibilities
We start identifying what’s feasible, what design or permitting steps may be needed, and what your options look like.

• Next steps, clearly laid out
You’ll get guidance on things like renderings, blueprints, or a rough estimate depending on the scope.

• Proposal + contract
Everything is organized into a clear scope of work with estimated costs.

• Selections + design details
Finishes, fixtures, appliances… this is where it starts to feel real.

• Scheduling + construction
Then we bring it all to life.

Throughout the entire process, you’re not left guessing what’s next. You’re guided through it.

If you’ve been sitting in the “thinking about it” phase, this might be your sign to start the conversation!
