Some of the most important safety features are the ones you never notice. 🔥🚪

Our team recently installed a Smoke Guard M2100E elevator smoke curtain at a prominent New England area university.

Here’s why it matters: during a fire, elevator shafts can act like chimneys, pulling smoke up from one floor to the next. This curtain sits quietly above the elevator opening, and when the alarm goes off, it drops down automatically to seal the opening and help keep smoke where it belongs.

This one has a couple of smart extras, too. A rewind switch makes it easy for the facilities team or occupants to roll the curtain back up after a test or alarm. And a built-in viewport lets anyone inside the elevator see out into the hallway when the curtain is down.

The best part? On a normal day, you’d hardly know it’s there. 👀

Huge thanks to our install crew for another great job! 👏

If your campus or facility is planning smoke and fire protection upgrades, we’d love to talk through the options. Reach out to The Pappas Company at [email protected] or (617) 923-3000.

Two Modernfold walls, one seriously flexible office! ✨

Our crew just wrapped up the installation of a Modernfold Pureview glass wall and a Modernfold Acousti-Seal Paired Panel wall in a downtown Boston office building, and we’re really proud of how it came together.

The Pureview glass wall keeps everything bright and open, letting natural light flow through while still giving the space a way to divide when needed. There’s even a built-in pass door, so people can come and go without opening the whole wall.

Inside the room, the Acousti-Seal Paired Panel wall steps in when privacy matters. Need a quiet meeting or two events happening at once? Close it up. Need one big open room? The panels tuck away and the space comes right back together.

It’s a great example of how the right walls can make one space work in a whole bunch of different ways.

Huge thanks to our install team for another beautiful finish! 👏

Game on! 🏀

We just wrapped up the installation of two Draper EZ Fold® Backstops in a New England elementary school gym, and we couldn't be happier with how they turned out.

If you've ever spent time in an elementary school gym, you know it's never just a gym. It's the assembly hall, the indoor recess spot, the PE classroom, and sometimes the lunchroom too. These backstops fold up toward the ceiling when they're not needed, so the whole floor opens up for everything else on the schedule. When it's time to shoot some hoops, down they come.

We love projects like this one, because we know these hoops are going to see a lot of happy kids (and probably a few teachers sneaking in a shot or two) for years to come.

Check out the finished install in the video below! 👇

Some of the most important work we do is the kind you'll hopefully never see in action. 🔥

Our crews recently wrapped up Smoke Guard installations on three projects around the Boston area, featuring four different smoke and fire containment systems: the M600, M2100, M3000, and M4000.

Every building had its own puzzle to solve. Tight ceilings, big open atriums, elevator lobbies that needed to look clean and simple. Smoke Guard systems tuck away out of sight day to day, then deploy automatically in an emergency to hold back smoke and fire and keep exit routes safe for everyone inside.

We're proud to help keep people safe in buildings all across New England. Check out the systems in action here:

Our crew just wrapped up a Modernfold Acousti-Seal Premier installation at a downtown Boston hotel, and this is the kind of project that shows what operable walls do best.

Hotel meeting and event spaces have to change constantly. A wedding reception one day, back-to-back corporate meetings the next. With the new paired panel system, the hotel staff can divide or open up the space in just minutes, no construction, no lost bookings, no hassle.

The panels ride on an overhead track, so there's nothing on the floor to trip over or interrupt the carpet. And when they're set in place, the acoustic seals keep sound where it belongs, so events on both sides of the wall get the privacy they paid for.

Proud of our team for another clean, professional installation in the heart of Boston.

Have a meeting or event space that needs to do more? Send us a message, we'd love to help.

Another Boston area project in the books!

Our team just finished installing Modernfold Encore operable partitions and Acousti-Clear glass walls at a high tech firm's office building, and the transformation is something special.

The glass walls keep the whole office bright and open while giving teams real privacy and sound control when they need it. And with the Encore panels, one big space becomes several meeting rooms in just a few minutes, then opens right back up.

We love projects like this one, where the space works just as hard as the people in it. Big thanks to our crew for another clean, precise installation.

Thinking about flexible walls for your next project? Send us a message, we'd love to talk.

A great example of what can happen when flexibility, design, and craftsmanship all come together.

The Pappas Company recently completed this Modernfold, Inc. Legacy operable partition in collaboration with Block Builders and S3 Design.

What makes this installation unique? After the operable wall was installed, our team field-applied individually sized mirrors to each panel, carefully aligning them to create the appearance of a virtually seamless studio mirror wall when closed.

The result gives the space two things at once: a full mirrored wall and the flexibility to divide the room whenever needed.

A lot of coordination and field precision went into making this one come together, and we couldn’t be happier with the finished product.

Thank you to Block Builders and S3 Design for the great collaboration from start to finish!

Modernfold flexibility. Pappas craftsmanship.

From operable walls to smoke and fire curtains, gym equipment, and specialty architectural doors, everything we install comes down to the crews and tradespeople who put in the work day after day.

We're grateful for the hands that build New England.

There's nothing like seeing a project go from drawings to a finished space.

We recently wrapped up a beautiful senior living project for 2Life Communities in Newton, MA, working alongside Perkins Eastman and J. Calnan & Associates. Our team installed Modernfold Acousti-Clear operable glass walls with double glazed panels, a 45 STC rating, and a black powder coated finish.

What we love most about this one is how naturally the walls blend into the architecture. The black framing ties right into the millwork and surrounding finishes, so the system feels built in. But when the space needs to open up, it transforms completely.

Sound separation, natural light, and total flexibility, all in one system. Proud of this one.

Some walls divide a room. This one belongs to it.

We just wrapped up a project at New Seabury, one of Cape Cod's most beautiful golf communities. The team installed a Modernfold Legacy operable partition with custom mirrored panels in their fitness and amenity space.

Here's what makes it special: when the wall is closed, the mirrors make it feel like part of the gym, not a barrier running through it. When it's open, the whole space flows together again. The club gets two rooms or one, whenever they need it, without ever sacrificing the look.

Projects like this are why we love what we do. Great spaces deserve solutions that work as good as they look.
