Please so that you are aware of this before you purchase these items at Walmart..... So me & my buddy went to Walmart the other day to do some Christmas shopping and get a few things need for work. While I'm there I decided to purchase a Patriot 425 crossbow for deer hunting purpose. Well we got back to the house and decided to put it together so I could go hunting on this holiday weekend this week. For starters there was a piece of the bow & arrow cracked off as soon as we opened the box. Red flag #1. Then we put it together and are getting ready to Target shoot it and the moment we pull the string about 3/4 to 1/2 way back the string explodes. Almost hitting my buddy who was cocking it into ready position to then put a arrow into the track which it shoots from. Which we didn't get to that step because the string exploded with 200 foot pounds of pressure on that string it's like the hardest whip you've ever seen cuz literally cut you or severely injure you.
This was the 20th which was one day after purchase. This all happened straight out of the bow brand new never opened. So finally today the 22nd we ride up to Walmart because we have a day off. As we open the box originally there's a green piece of paper that says do not return to store. Nothin on the outside of the box saying that this product cannot be returned to Walmart. Once we get there today the 22nd we were informed at that product was not allowed to be returned. When asked why we were not allowed to return this product that was defective and broke. Because company policy classifies it as a firearm???????
So you mean the federal government the ATF and many more do not classify this as a firearm because it is a crossbow which shoots a bow and arrow. Anyone with any record can own and purchase this product. I do feel that this should be posted on the outside of this product that you are not allowed to return an item is expensive as this was because their company policy classifies it as something that our own great nation and government do not classify as a firearm because they obviously do not know what the definition of that is. After further investigation for me and digging even your child's slingshot that you might buy for them to shoot a marble or a rock out of just to play as you were as a kid is considered a firearm at Walmart and is a non-returnable except through manufacturer which then takes up to four to five weeks if not longer to return your money and product. Be aware of what you're buying there now because they have changed their store policies to where you're not even allowed to exchange anything anymore other than food. When does Walmart think that they're big enough to change our laws of this great land and rights because of a company policy and I truly firmly believe in being able to have those rights to choose and pick as a company owner what you can cannot return or anything like that but I do believe that it should be posted on the box and big letters that you're not allowed to do that instead of letting someone purchase a defective product getting it home and find out it's defective and you're not allowed to go back and get your money back right then. I will not say how much this product cost and it was on the cheap end of things but anyone that knows anything about hunting crossbows knows it is not cheap. And to classify as a firearm a crossbow a bow and arrow a slingshot are you kidding me. Make sure you go to somewhere else like academy of sports sportsman's Warehouse or somewhere like that that if your products defective that they will return your money to you right then.
