It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Fred McLean, who went to be with Jesus early this morning after a courageous 11 month battle with brain cancer. After his diagnosis, Fred showed incredible strength, faith, and grace through it all.

Fred was truly one of the kindest people you could ever meet. More than ten years ago, Josh walked into McLean’s Refinishing and asked Fred if he needed help. From that day on, Fred took Josh in and taught him everything he knows about woodworking and refinishing. He treated us like family and became a father figure to us.

In July, Fred made the difficult decision to sell the shop, and Josh was the one he chose to trust with it, leaving his legacy in our hands. That gift has changed our lives in ways we will forever be grateful for. Fred also showed up faithfully for our children, cheering them on at their sporting events, and he had a heart for this community that was unmatched. It truly feels like everyone knew and loved him. We are comforted knowing his legacy will live on through all the lives he touched.

A French panettiere is a traditional French bread cabinet, originally used to store loaves in the kitchen. This piece was carefully refinished by Josh, preserving its original character while enhancing the natural beauty of the wood and craftsmanship.
