It’s always a pleasure to help a client freshen up their home’s curb appeal!

We recently had the opportunity to work with a new client to enhance their well established landscape. Our Designer, Alex, curated a beautiful selection of mixed perennials and shrubs, and our installation team loved collaborating on site with the client to place each plant where it would shine per his preferred aesthetic. 🌺

At Merrifield Garden and Design, we put a lot of focus on safety.

We cover a safety topic at our weekly company meetings, our drivers perform vehicle circle checks daily, and our crews head out each day with an assortment of necessary safety gear.

It was great to see this recent job site photo showing our team using eye protection, ear protection for the equipment noise, and cones around our vehicle. 🍃

A little consistent garden care goes a long way. 🌿☀️

This poolside garden in Dover, Massachusetts is on a monthly garden maintenance schedule. After completing our spring cleanup and mulching, we focus on some of the core details that keep everything looking sharp throughout the summer: regular deadheading, weeding, and staking.🌻

Meet Ewan, one of our dedicated Garden and Landscape Professionals! 🌿

Ewan balances his time between our garden maintenance division and our design and installation projects. On any given day, he might be found sourcing key materials, installing cobblestone borders, or renovating and enhancing tired landscapes. He also oversees the routine organization and safety inspections of our vehicles.

Ewan holds several professional certifications including Landscape Management and Pollinator Stewardship. Whether performing essential maintenance or complex design projects, his versatility makes him a valuable asset to our work.

We feel very fortunate to have Ewan on our team!

Before vs. One Year Later. 🏡

We always talk about the importance of planning for the long term. This backyard installation from last year is an example of how the right plant placement and preparation create a landscape that only gets better with time.

Seeing the garden mature—with fuller foliage and established root systems—is the best reward for our team. We’re proud to see how these landscapes continue to evolve and thrive.

We recently wrapped up two incredible professional development field sessions with Jen Kettell of Radiant Leaf Consulting

As an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, Jen is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the art and science of pruning.

Our team had the opportunity to dive deep into evergreen and conifer care, focusing on proper techniques to ensure the long-term structural health and vitality of our clients’ landscapes.

Transforming a tricky front slope into a vibrant, pollinator-friendly meadow. 🌱✨

We just wrapped up this installation in Concord, MA. Instead of fighting the slope, we embraced it with a diverse palette of over 13 native and adapted varieties designed to provide year-round interest and habitat for local pollinators.

A few of the future stars in this new meadow include:

💜 'Blue Fortune' Hyssop for those incredible, long-lasting blooms.

🦋 Butterfly W**d and Purple Coneflower to act as a magnet for local bees and butterflies.

🌾 'Shenandoah' Switch Grass for that beautiful, structural movement in the breeze.

Can’t wait to see it fill out and come to life over the coming seasons!
