Have you ever wondered what really goes into the design process of your dream backyard? AI programs like Chat GPT can give you a great start into visualization, but can’t replace the need for a professional to design a site specific plan or tell you if your idea will interfere with wetlands. It won’t tell you if a certain plant would be toxic for your pets or grant you permitting permissions to begin construction. A plan needs sign-offs by the local engineering department, planning board, and perhaps other entities. But don’t let this deter you from starting, Curbs Studio has the resources to simplify this process and take you every step of the way.

Three out of seven new clients came to us last week with fully imagined landscaping plans—many generated using AI—and we’re here for it. Some homeowners want to start with tools like ChatGPT. Others prefer to start from scratch. Either way works.

What’s changed is that AI allows us to see what a homeowner is envisioning before we even begin. It gives people a way to explore ideas, communicate clearly, and take creative ownership of their space early in the process.

In this example, the first image is our team’s iteration—taking the initial concept and refining the layout, elevating the space, and layering in elements that make it functional, buildable, and cohesive. The second image is the homeowner’s original rendering—a strong starting point that guided the direction.
