The holidays are a time for relaxation and perhaps none better than a zen like bathroom experience. One that whisks you away from the daily grind, transforming a few minutes of respite into a well deserved dose of tranquility. This steel and glass shower enclosure with abundant stone and brass fixtures creates such an ambiance. Floating in the middle of the room with a generous skylight above, the sensation created is about an immersion into luxury . Warm water, rich materials and expansive views are the catalyst for indulgence.

The design of a new home offers an opportunity to explore ideas that are both unique and unexpected—concepts that shift attention from the interior to the landscape and create moments of discovery. One such moment is the glass bridge that links two wings of the house. Great spaces are often a product of their spatial qualities, integration of natural light and fit and finish. Such is the case with this two-story family room with adjacent mezzanine above. A central dark stone clad fireplace accentuates the rooms verticality while toning down the appearance of the TV. Applied wall trim subtly provides detail and human scale, while tying in the two-story tall wall of glass and defining openings to adjacent rooms.

Perched on an old corn field adjacent to the Westport River and with southern views toward the Atlantic, this summer home feels well situated. Though its location offers ocean vistas and summer breezes, the architectural flavor of the area offers up a wonderful coastal palette of stone, cedar and flourishing meadow grasses. The new house therefore is low in stature, blending into the landscape, with a two-story sleeping wing to shield northeast winds and provide elevated views.

It’s heavy lifting day on Nantucket for this contemporary house. Thanks to a tactical crane and GC team a two ton steel ridge beam was carefully inserted into the house through hoist holes in the wall and roof. All part of making a unique great room with wonderful views.
