Winning Wednesday:
This week’s residential claim is out of Westlake, Ohio.
The carrier started at a slope replacement for $7,049.07 and said the roof could be repaired with the shingle shown in the photo because “the shingle would match.”
Clearly, that wasn’t the case.
The roof ended up being replaced for $32,718.47.
Carriers have an obligation to follow Ohio statutes and the policy. On most residential claims, replacement materials must provide a reasonably comparable appearance. This patch was not reasonable.
