Removed all old cedar shake siding on this 115 year old house, and installed new vinyl cedar shake impressions with white pvc trim. One of the oldest houses on Wells beach. Year built 1911

Alot of people lately have been having issues with ice dams. Most people think you have to remove the dams every year. To prevent ice dams from happening you must know what causes them in the first place. Not having the proper amount of insulation in your attic space will allow heat from your living space to escape to your roof sheathing and melt snow. It will refreeze when it reaches your cold overhang on the roof forming an ice dam. Also poor ventilation in your roof soffit and ridge vent is key to allow any warm air in the attic to escape through the ridge vent instead of melting the snow through the roof sheathing.
And of course having a proper ice and water shield underlayment installed under your Roofing will also help prevent the water from leaking into your home.

We installed some beautiful flooring in this unit this week. The old toilet was leaking due to a deteriorated wax ring and a leaking supply line valve. We replaced both including a brand new toilet.

These deck stairs were missing a landing at the door and was not up to code. We took it down and made it right with a brand new set of stairs.
