These photos show the transformation of a charming coastal cottage — from a well-loved original to a fresh, modern shingle-style home with expanded living space, updated exterior materials, and an enlarged deck perfectly suited for taking in those views.

A former upper deck is no converted into a sitting room with a breathtaking view of the ocean and beach.

The updated design brings together classic cedar shingles with crisp white board-and-batten on the new addition, black-framed windows for a contemporary edge, and a composite deck with cable railing that feels right at home on the Maine coast.
