A strong cold front will cross the region late this morning and into the afternoon hours, bringing a round of potential strong to severe thunderstorms. The best timing for these stronger thunderstorms will be between 11am and 8pm, earlier the farther west you are. These storms may bring the risk of all weather hazards.

ZONE 3 - The highest confidence for severe thunderstorms. Numerous strong to severe thunderstorms are expected. The strongest thunderstorms may produce wind gusts greater than 65 mph. A few isolated weak tornadoes cannot be ruled out. The best timing for this region is 12-4pm.

ZONE 2- Higher confidence area for stronger thunderstorms. Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are expected. The strongest thunderstorms may produce wind gusts greater than 60mph, hail, and the risk of an isolated tornado. The best timing for this region is 12-8pm.

ZONE 1- Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are expected. The strongest thunderstorms may produce wind gusts greater than 50mph and small hail. The best timing for this region is 11am - 8pm, the earlier the farther west.

Keep in mind, not everyone will see strong to severe thunderstorms due to the nature of convection. It will be good to remain aware if you will be out and about throughout the afternoon hours. Have ways of receiving severe weather alerts and be on alert for rapidly changing conditions. Some good options are your local TV meteorologist weather app and weather.gov.
