As our food system system becomes more and more interesting everyday, I think this would be a good time to have an educational post of poultry science to have a deeper understand of how food is developed biologically.

From Left to Right
#1 Immature O***y. As the day length gets longer, birds biological response is to reproduce and the follicles start to mature.
#2 Mature O***y. Day length is long enough and follicles mature.
#3 Follicle ruptures along a suture line and a yolk is released into the body cavity.
#4 Yolk or O**m is picked up by the beginning of the oviduct. The Infundibulum and it passes through the Magnum and Albumin is placed around the yolk. The junction of the infundibulum and magnum is where semen is stored and if present, that is where it will fertilize the germinal disc.
#5 Shell membrane is placed around the yolk and albumen in the isthmus of the oviduct. It will also impregnate the shell membrane with more albumen.
#6 Second Shell Membrane is placed over the first.
#7 Shell of the egg is then placed on in the uterus. This can take about 20-23 hours.
#8 The egg then passes to the va**na and this is where pigment of the egg is put on and the cuticle. Then the eggs is laid.

Don't commit . Cutting back crape myrtle trees is not, and never has been, the preferred way of handling these graceful and beautiful trees. In addition, it is not healthy for the trees in the long run. Cutting back crape myrtles creates large wounds that can serve as points of entry for fungal decay organisms.
