🌧️ ALL THIS RAIN IS TELLING ON YOUR HOUSE.
Over the last couple of days, I’ve had several homeowners reach out about water issues that only became noticeable because of the heavy rain.
And a lot of the time, the rain itself isn’t the real problem — it’s exposing a problem that was already there.
A few things I’ve been seeing:
• Missing or improperly installed drip edge
• Fascia problems around gutters and roof edges
• Siding that wasn’t properly installed or sealed
• Failed or missing exterior caulking
• Gutters dumping water where they shouldn’t
• Standing water around foundations
• Water stains showing up on ceilings or walls
• Water getting behind exterior materials where you may not see the damage right away
If we’ve had heavy rain in your area, take 10–15 minutes and walk around your house.
Look at your roof edges.
Look behind and underneath your gutters.
Check around windows and doors.
Look at the bottom of your siding.
Check for standing water around the foundation.
And inside, pay attention to any new stains, bubbling paint, damp smells, or discoloration.
Water intrusion usually gets more expensive the longer it goes unnoticed.
If you see something that doesn’t look right and you’re not sure what you’re looking at, reach out to Design By Barrett LLC. I can take a look, help identify where the water is coming from, and recommend the proper repair.
Sometimes a controlled water test can help pinpoint the source before you start tearing things apart.
