A must share post for all homeowners:

R-22 is not becoming ”illegal” in the USA for consumers to have in their A/C or for contractors to recharge regardless of leak rate on systems containing under 50lbs.

There is a new production and import ban starting in 2020 but the market is prepared for this and reclaimed stock and existing stock will still be used for years to come.

The price of R-22 has not gone up in the last 12 months and is not expected to spike once the import and production ban is in place in 2020.

Contractors have not been able to install new equipment containing R-22 for many years, so that isn't even part of the discussion at this point.

In other words ”warning” consumers that R-22 is going away is a sales trick and not a real concern.

There are many valid reasons to consider a new HVAC system INCLUDING the price of refrigerant, energy, maintenance costs and especially COMFORT.

Don't using scare tactics to sell units or fall for these tricks.
