Introducing something we've been working on and are really excited to share.

Meet Plante ProDressβ„’
"Where organic meets performance."

This is our new topdressing blend built by combining our OMRI Listed compost with a 2mm sand to create a product that works for everything from home lawn leveling to professional golf course topdressing applications.

Here's why the blend matters. The 2mm sand gives you the consistency and flow needed for professional topdressing equipment and clean even application across turf. The OMRI Listed compost brings the organic matter, the biology, and the soil health benefits that sand alone will never give you. Together they do something neither one can do on its own.

For homeowners it's a clean easy way to level low spots, smooth out uneven turf, and improve the organic matter in your lawn without disrupting the grass above it. For golf course superintendents and turf managers it's a product built to the standards your operation demands consistent particle size, clean organic inputs, and the kind of biological activity that builds healthier turf over time.

The organic matter in Plante ProDressβ„’ isn't just filler. It's feeding the biology in your soil, improving moisture retention, and building the kind of turf foundation that performs better season after season. That's what separates this from a straight sand topdress.

OMRI Listed compost. 2mm sand. One product that finally brings organic and performance together.

Built to order. Available in bulk loads and 2 yard sling bags across MA and RI. Or pick up at our yard in West Bridgewater πŸš›

Happy Wednesday from the team at A.R. Plante! 🌿

What a shot Chris got this morning heading out with a load of our OMRI Listed compost to the Cape. Early starts and full trucks that's what this time of year looks like around here.

For those of you doing plantings right now, this one's worth reading. We're in a serious drought across Southern Massachusetts right now and even with the rain we got yesterday the soil is thirsty. What you do at the time of planting matters a lot more than people realize.

Working a quality compost into your planting areas before anything goes in the ground gives those plants a real fighting chance. It holds moisture around the root zone instead of letting it drain away, and it builds the organic matter in the soil that keeps everything functioning the way it should through dry stretches like this one.

And here's something for the landscapers working on construction installs. Don't let the builder push you into using that onsite soil they graded and pushed up. In most cases that material has been stripped, compacted, and turned over so many times it has almost no ability to hold moisture or support healthy plant establishment. Your plants will sit there and struggle and your customers will notice.

Amend it. Our Β½" OMRI Listed compost worked into the planting areas will change what that soil can do. Your customers will be happy. The plants will be happier. And your reputation stays exactly where it should be. πŸ’ͺ

Attention landscapers β€” if you're out there doing plantings right now, this one's for you.

No matter what the soil looks like on your job site, this is the time to be amending around every planting with a compost that's actually alive. Not just organic matter sitting there, something loaded with active bacteria, fungi, and biology that gets to work in the root zone the moment it goes in the ground.

Our Β½" screened compost is exactly that. And here's something you'll notice when you open it up. You're going to see small twigs and branches with visible white mycelium and fungal growth on them. Some people see that and wonder if something is wrong.

Nothing is wrong. That's the best thing you could see. πŸ’ͺ

That white web of mycelium means you are looking at a living breathing soil system actively at work. The fungi are breaking down complex woody material into smaller compounds that bacteria can use β€” the two are working together as a team. As those pieces continue breaking down over the next several months they keep releasing biology directly into the root zone of your plantings, long after you've moved on to the next job.

You're not just amending soil on the day you plant. You're setting up a slow release of living biology that keeps feeding that root zone all season long. That's the difference between putting a plant in the ground and actually giving it something to grow in. 🌱

Available now in bulk truck loads, 2 yard sling bags, and available for pickup directly at our yard in West Bridgewater. However works best for your operation.

OMRI listed and approved for organic use. No biosolids, no animal manure, no shortcuts.

Happy Father's Day from all of us at A.R. Plante Materials and Earthworks.

To every dad, stepdad, grandfather, and the men who've shown up in that role for someone else, today's for you. The ones who taught us how to fix things, work hard, and not be afraid to get our hands dirty. A lot of what we do every day traces right back to lessons learned from a father or a father figure standing beside us.

Whatever you're doing today, we hope it's a good one. Spend it with the people who matter, kick your feet up if you can, and let someone else handle the to do list for a change.

So tonight, raise a cold glass of something and a toast to the dads out there who built the foundation we all stand on.

Happy Father's Day. 🌿

Synthetic fertilizer gets you a quick green up. That's about all it gets you.

It feeds the plant directly, gives you that fast visual result, and then it's gone. No lasting structure left behind. No biology built up. Just a temporary fix that needs to be repeated again and again to keep the same result. And over time that repeated synthetic feeding can actually work against the soil, less biological activity, more compaction, more dependency on the next round just to maintain what you've got.

This is where compost does something completely different.

A high quality compost isn't just organic matter, it's alive. Loaded with bacteria, fungi, and the rest of the soil food web that synthetic fertilizer can't touch. When you topdress or side dress with a compost rich in that biology, you're not just giving the plant a meal, you're putting a living workforce into your soil that keeps breaking down thatch, cycling nutrients, and building structure long after the application is done.

Compost top dressing introduces and supports beneficial microbes, creating a thriving soil ecosystem, and each quarter inch application can deliver roughly two to three pounds of available nitrogen per 1,000 square feet, slowly released instead of dumped all at once. That's nutrition your turf or beds can actually use instead of losing to runoff or burn.

Side dressing through the season works the same way. Every application reinoculates the soil with active biology, keeping that system working between feedings instead of starting from zero every time.

This is the real difference between feeding a plant and building a soil. Synthetic fertilizer does the first. Quality compost does both.

OMRI listed and approved for organic use. No biosolids, no animal manure, no shortcuts.

You hear the word regenerative thrown around a lot these days. Regenerative agriculture, regenerative landscaping, regenerative this and that. Worth taking a minute to actually talk about what it means and where compost fits into it.

Regenerative isn't just about avoiding harm. Sustainable means not making things worse. Regenerative means actually making things better, building soil that's healthier next year than it was this year, and the year after that better still.

That's a completely different mindset than how a lot of the landscape industry has operated for a long time. Spray synthetic fertilizer, get a quick green up, repeat next season. That approach feeds the plant but it doesn't build anything. The soil doesn't get better. In a lot of cases it actually gets worse over time, less biology, more compaction, more dependency on the next round of inputs just to keep things looking okay.

This is where compost does something fundamentally different. A biologically active compost isn't just adding nutrients, it's adding life. Bacteria, fungi, the whole soil food web that drives nutrient cycling on its own instead of you having to force feed the plant every few weeks. That biology builds organic matter, improves structure, holds water better, and keeps working long after the application is done.

Every time you topdress a bed or amend a planting with real compost you're not just helping that one job look good this season. You're building soil that will perform better on its own going forward. Less synthetic input needed over time. More resilience through drought and stress. A landscape that actually gets stronger instead of just staying afloat.

That's the role we see our compost playing in this industry. Not a quick fix, a long term investment in the ground itself.

OMRI listed and approved for organic use. No biosolids, no animal manure, no shortcuts.

Boston's been taken over by kilts, bagpipes, and the Tartan Army and as many of you have seen all over the news, they're officially here. Honestly, we're here for it too.

But all this Scotland talk has us thinking about dirt. Stay with us.

Scotland's been working tough land for centuries wet, peaty, hilly ground that's better suited to grazing sheep and cattle than row crops. Their version of organic leans on rotation, grass fed livestock, and crofting traditions passed down for generations.

At A.R. Plante Materials and Earthworks, we do it a little differently. Turning local yard waste, leaves, and wood into certified organic compost, loam, and soil blends, right here in West Bridgewater, for properties all over New England.

Different climate, different methods, same goal. Work with the land, not against it.

Thanks for coming all the way to Massachusetts, Tartan Army. Best of luck in the games ahead, we'll be cheering you on right alongside the rest of Boston.

And if you've left us any beer, we'll be sure to lift a pint for you. 🍺

If you've ever tried planting anything along the shoreline you know the struggle. Sandy soil drains in seconds, salt spray beats up everything in its path, and plants that would thrive twenty feet inland just sit there and sulk near the water.

This is exactly why we built our OMRI listed potting blend with shoreline conditions in mind. It's a mix of our compost, biochar, rice hulls, and peat, now available in 2 yard bulk sling bags.

Here's what's actually happening when you work this into sandy coastal soil. The organic matter gives that soil something to hold onto, water and nutrients that would normally just wash straight through. The biochar adds structure and creates a place for beneficial biology to take hold, which matters a lot when conditions are already working against your plants. The peat and rice hulls round out the mix with the right balance of moisture retention and drainage so roots aren't stuck in either extreme.

Shoreline plantings are hard enough without fighting your soil too. This gives your plants a real shot at settling in and actually thriving instead of just surviving.

OMRI listed and available now in bulk sling bags.
