💛Thank you for having us at STREAM night, Danville! What a great group of kids, families, and support from the community. We wish we could have gotten around to visit everyone at their booths, but we sure enjoyed everyone taking the time to stop outside! 💛
🪧Our signs got pretty soggy with the drizzle of rain here and there, but here are some of the key points we were hoping to share with the kids. ⬇️
Have you ever caught yourself wondering “When am I EVER going to need/use THIS⁉️”
Math and reading are endless! You need and use both day after day. Below, are some of the main aspects of a day in the life of the concrete industry! 👷🏻♂️
*Finding Averages- Taking random measurements throughout a slab, to come up with the approximate thickness of concrete.
*Pythagorean’s Theorem- Squaring up foundation walls of a building.
A squared + B squared = C squared
*Volume & Area-Figuring the amount of concrete needed to complete projects.
Volume= Length x Width x Height
Area= Length x Width
*Slope- Figuring the slope of slabs, drains, and flow lines.
Slope = Rise/Run (Rise over Run)
*Fractions- Reading a tape measure accurately, and solving different math equations that relate to concrete measurements.
*Communication- Respectfully being able to talk clearly in the exchange of information, instruction, and ideas.
*Teamwork- Paired with ability to work independently, it is equally as important being able to work with others to achieve a goal. The majority of tasks in the concrete industry require many people. A good team working together will ensure safety and quality on a job site.
💙Thank you again to Danville School, Sharee Snelson, and Danville families for a fun night!
