With Labor Day weekend just around the corner, it's the perfect time to appreciate the spaces that bring people together.

Whether gathering on a welcoming porch, sharing a meal in the dining room, or enjoying a late summer evening on the terrace, the most memorable homes are designed to make entertaining feel effortless. Designing a new structure to look like it has been standing for centuries requires incredible attention to detail. For this project, the team integrated reclaimed stone from an old demolished structure in Bucks County. Although it started out looking like nothing other than a messy pile of rocks covered in dirt and debris, this locally sourced material fit perfectly into the color palette and is a significant factor in the success of the project. Today, visitors can't tell the difference between the brand-new construction and the property's c. 1700 main house.

A huge thank you to homeowner Matt McGowen for sharing his story about the leap of faith required when buying a pile of rocks and trusting it can be turned into something beautiful and timeless.

Designing a space that feels like it has been there for a long time starts with the materials. By celebrating nature and sourcing unique, authentic materials—from hand-hewn reclaimed beams and a stunning stone fireplace to antique French oak integrated into the hardwood flooring—every element was chosen with intention. The goal was to make the design feel truly authentic and found.

This stunning project was designed to be the ultimate retreat for family-focused recreation! From a pool house and recreation room to a dedicated golf simulator and an art studio, every corner is built for entertaining and pure fun.

The art studio was a true joy to create, designed to be both inspirational and functional for Lindsay's passion. With beautiful and whimsical painted checkerboard floors, any accidental paint spills only add to the charm of the space.

Bringing the South of France to Pennsylvania

This project was all about hybridization—blending the classic feel of a Chester County farmstead with design elements inspired by travels to the Provence region of France. From importing authentic French limestone to carefully selecting the plant palette, every detail was chosen to evoke the feeling of being on vacation.

Few materials connect a home to its surroundings as naturally as stone.

Used for foundations, walls, terraces, chimneys, and landscape features, stone provides a sense of permanence and authenticity. Its texture, color, and variation help anchor a residence within the landscape while offering durability that can withstand generations of use.

When thoughtfully incorporated into a design, stone allows architecture to feel as though it has always belonged to its site.

In this 1910 home, the former kitchen was reimagined as a hardworking support space designed for the way the family lives and entertains. A fully equipped scullery provides a dedicated area for food preparation, catering, and storage, while the spacious mudroom keeps daily life organized with room for sports gear, backpacks, packages, and even a dog shower. Behind the scenes, these functional spaces help the home's main kitchen remain the welcoming centerpiece for family and guests alike.

By transforming a former covered brick patio into a light-filled solarium kitchen, this renovation created a space designed for everyday living. Surrounded by windows, doors, and skylights, the room is filled with natural light and thoughtfully planned to accommodate everything from quiet breakfasts and homework sessions to holiday gatherings. While the new addition becomes the home's central gathering place, its design carefully preserves the architectural rhythm and timeless character of the original residence.
