I've been landscaping in one form or another since childhood. Some of my first experiences were learning and working in my parents back yard filled with perennial and vegetable gardens. By about the age of 13 I was mowing and maintaining properties around the neighborhood. My father has been a passionate all around gardener most of his life, and familiar with many aspects of landscape design. He has certainly passed on that passion to me. Although most of my landscaping and especially stonework experience has been gained in New Hampshire and Vermont, I did live and work in California for a year, learning many of the native trees, shrubs and perennials. I assisted in planting and maintaining various gardens, and the experience was inspirational, broadening my view of landscaping in general. Years ago when I first started learning about stonework and working with many types of stone in different situations, I quickly developed a passion for it, knowing I would incorporate stonework into my business. I also realized there was much to learn about the many uses of stone in the landscape. It took time to develop the skills, focus, and patience necessary to work with stone. To me this time was well worth it, I knew when I was ready to offer stonework through my own business, quality and craftmanship were going to be of utmost importance. Any kind of stonework, from walls to patios, should be able to stand the test of time. My experience through hands on training and self guided research has covered so many aspects of landscaping and stonework from the basics of gardening and maintenance evolving into landscape and stonework design and construction. Years before I started Ecoscapes, it was my dream to start a landscaping company. I have a deep respect for the land I grew up on here in Southwestern NH, and its a true pleasure to live and work with the land and the people that live here.
