That’s a wrap on the first ever Red River Valley Pet Election! Please welcome Tater Tot, as your 2026 Red River Valley Pet Mayor!

A special thank you to Fargo Mayor Josh Boschee for officially swearing Tater Tot into office!

Thank you to everyone who came out to vote, and to Red River Market and Folkways for all their support at the market.

Every vote helped make a difference. Over 70 pets were adopted into great homes through this year’s election, thanks to our partner shelters:

Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue
4 Luv of Dog Rescue
Homeward Animal Shelter
CATS Cradle Shelter

Until next year!

Tomorrow the polls close at 8:00 pm and I close the book. Today is a fresh ballot, as every day has been. One vote per person, every day. Free.

As Commissioner, I must insist you vote.

There will be no recount. There will be a nap.

Adopt from any of our partner shelters between September 18 and October 17 and Novel puts $100 toward the adoption fee.

Every animal on our adopt page comes straight from the shelter’s own list, and each one links back to that shelter’s page for that pet.
