Job description
We are seeking candidates experienced in Concrete. Currently hiring all positions (Finishers, Carpenters, and Foremen). Must have own transportation, authorization to work in the US, and ability to pass a drug screen and physical. Applicant must have at least 1 year of experience in placing and finishing commercial and industrial concrete, setting forms and laying out jobsite, and general construction duties. Work involves local (Northern Utah) as well as potential out-of-town projects. Employee must be willing to travel as necessary. Work also includes some weekend work, and overtime as the projects require. We provide competitive benefits including health insurance, life insurance and 401k with matching.
Those applying for Formen positions must have a valid driver's license, ability to pass a DOT physical, and the ability to read, write, and speak English.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: From $25.00 per hour for Carpenters
From $30 per hour for Finisher.
From $65,000 per year for Formen
Pay is negotiable based on experience.

Job Description – Senior Estimator

Summary

Messerly Concrete Contractors, Inc. located in Ogden, Utah is seeking a Senior Estimator to head up our pre-construction/estimating efforts. As the leader of the preconstruction/estimating efforts, the Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing budgets, estimates, and pre-bid packages for construction projects specifically for concrete scope of work. Responsibilities also included working with the President and project management teams developing sections of schematic, design development and construction document estimates including soliciting and evaluating subcontractor bids as necessary, and scopes of work, preparing quantity surveys, reviewing project plans and specifications for various categories of work including both large ($3 M) and small (less than $500k) projects.

Essential Functions

● Leads Estimating efforts with timely roll-out and ex*****on of the entire estimate deliverable process.
● Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications to ensure required documentation is present and determine scope of work
● Develop full-scope estimates based on Bid-Build, construction documents
● Critically analyze bid documents and understand risk and opportunities and articulate those to management
● Organize the bid process, providing leadership and direction with regards to means and methods, schedule and strategy
● Provide detailed quantity take-off of specific areas when required
● Create detailed crew and production cost estimates and review prices with Management
● Solicits and analyzes subcontractor and vendor pricing input when required
● Attends project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews as required
● Develops unit costs accurately
● Performs technical/plan review when required
● Accurately assesses and plans takeoff workload
● Collaborating with other team members, conducting site visits, and providing other services like bid deliveries when required
● Ensuring that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before bid deadline
● Formulating contingency plans and effectively managing risks that might impact cost and time estimates
● Gather and monitor actual cost vs. estimated cost, maintaining project cost history
● Manage and maintain vendor database and subcontractor prequalification if required
● Assist in monthly accurate project billings and change orders and entering data into the computer system timely
● Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that
reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations

Minimum Requirements

● Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent education and experience, with 5 years of preconstruction/estimating and/or operations experience on commercial construction projects
● Knowledgeable of the following: civil/site construction, foundation and structural systems, miscellaneous metals, casework, doors, specialties, interior finishes, exterior building tilt-wall systems
● Able to manage multiple projects concurrently with ability to multitask
● Knowledge and efficiency in the following Software: Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD 3D, Takeoff Software, on screen Take-off and ComputerEze
● Strong computer skills including the ability to use estimating software such as OnScreen Takeoff, spread sheets, bid management, online plan rooms and database applications and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook)
● Possess good organizational skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
● Resourceful and diligent in seeking solutions to problems and adapting to new situations
● Exceptional time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills
● Ability to closely collaborate with other project team members and stakeholders
● Extensive knowledge of best industry practices and standards
