This might look like something off a movie set... Far from it. It's a back reamer for horizontal directional drilling. It drills sideways, under roads (and other infrastructure), so we can run pipe without digging up a street, yard, etc.

Host Mark Payne sits down with three Broome-Tioga BOCES students who competed at the national level after winning the New York State SkillsUSA competition in occupational safety and health.

They talk trades, jobsite safety, looking out for your crew, and what the next generation is bringing to the industry.

If you know a young person considering a career in the trades, this is an episode worth sharing. --> https://www.buzzsprout.com/2399745/episodes/19747233

Years tell you how long someone was there. Impact tells you what they meant.

We recently had the opportunity to celebrate the retirements of Jeff Bubb and Earl Knapp, two people who have left their own mark on DDS.

For Jeff, that meant being someone people could count on. He brought solutions when they were needed, sound judgment when decisions had to be made, and earned the trust of people across DDS.

For Earl, it meant sharing the knowledge built over 49 years in the natural gas industry. His experience became a resource for countless people, and his commitment to doing the job right set an example for those around him.

They have both left an indelible standard that will continue to shape DDS for years to come.

Thank you both for the work, the wisdom, and everything you've given to DDS. You've earned every bit of what's next.

What keeps a piece of heavy equipment working day after day?

A lot happens before it ever reaches the jobsite. Routine maintenance, diagnostics, inspections, and repairs all play a role in keeping equipment performing the way it should.

Our in-house mechanics help make sure our fleet is ready when our crews need it.

The most overlooked piece of safety gear isn't gear at all. It's water.

Hard hats, vests, glasses, and gloves. Our crews wear all of it. But in an enclosed cab in August, one of the biggest risks can be the heat. We build in breaks and watch each other for the early signs of dehydration.

Summer safety isn't just the equipment. It's staying ahead of the heat.
