When good friends needed more space after living in their 1980s ranch for many years, they brought in Eric MacInerney with Heimsath Architects. Working alongside Eric's design, our team took the home down to the studs to give them a home for their next chapter.

A sloped lot brings natural character, but it also requires plenty of structural planning.

To build on Tarrytown's highly permeable soil, we excavated six feet beneath the site infrastructure, replaced it with sturdier fill soil, and constructed a post-tension cable slab. Unlike traditional slabs that can shift in sections, this post-tension system moves together in unison, ensuring long-term structural integrity.

There is a lot of hidden work that goes into building a staircase.

Whether it is a new build or a full remodel, the planning starts early because every riser and tread has to meet building code perfectly. If an inspection measurement is off by even a fraction, it means tearing it down and starting over.

If every family lives differently, why should your outdoor space look the same as someone else's?
