Meet our crew part 1
Jeremy Heater
Owner
Jeremy started Heater Excavating with his Dad “gramps” Herb in the summer of 1996. A dragline purchased from an old friend -Sewell Johnson who ran a gravel pit on 199 E in Bellefontaine for the purpose of digging peat moss to sell - gave way to the necessity of a driveway to the future shop thay they needed to work on stuff-and since the drive was too expensive to “hire out”- they bought a backhoe to build the driveway themselves- at first it was a way for Herb and Jeremy -to in part supplement their income by doing small excavating jobs for their farming friends- while Jeremy wanted to “go for It” while he was young. They soon realized that they could both leave their jobs and entered the self employed world in the spring of 1998. It felt as though herbs life long dream of being self employed was well within reach…. With a Ford 655 A Backhoe and an old single axle chevy dump truck - the payments of which were paid to the bank by a tax refund check- in April of 98 - they ventured into the new and unknown waters of excavating. They had family to support- Herb a wife and Jeremy with a wife and a brand new baby boy -Ethan - born in that year. Neither of them knew of the countless blessings, trials, or hours they would devote or how much they would learn and grow with the business.
