LONG POST BUT PLEASE COPY AND PASTE, USE FOR YOUR CHATGPT IMAGES
We keep getting images that aren't great. This past weekend Steven and I went out of town, and I ask ChatGPT to please help me teach you.
The text exchange between me and ChatGPT:
Me: Teach me how to teach my customers to ask for custom graphic As the printer I need them to Fit the canvas Transparent png 300 dpi At least 15 inches wide
ChatGPT:
CUSTOM DTF GRAPHIC REQUEST TEMPLATE
Please create a design for DTF printing with the following specifications:
• Canvas size: Fill a 15-inch wide canvas
• Resolution: 300 DPI
• Background: Transparent PNG
• Output: High-quality print-ready PNG
• No mockups, watermarks, or background scenes
• Design should extend close to the edges of the canvas without leaving large empty spaces
• Use vibrant colors and sharp details suitable for apparel printing
Design Description:
[Describe what you want here.]
Example:
Create a vintage fishing shirt design featuring a largemouth bass jumping from the water at sunset. Include distressed retro typography that says "Weekend Forecast: Fishing". Use bold colors, detailed artwork, and fill the entire 15-inch-wide canvas. Transparent background. Output as a 300 DPI print-ready PNG.
I would also give customers these rules:
Before Sending Artwork
✅ PNG format only
✅ Transparent background
✅ 300 DPI minimum
✅ 15 inches wide minimum
✅ Artwork fills the canvas
✅ No screenshots
✅ No Facebook images
✅ No blurry photos
✅ No watermarks
What Happens If Not?
Small files print blurry.
White backgrounds must be removed (extra design fee).
Low-resolution images cannot be magically made high quality.
Screenshots usually do not print well.
You could even put this on your website or order form:
For best print quality, submit a transparent PNG that is at least 15 inches wide at 300 DPI. Designs should fill the canvas and be print-ready. Files that require editing, background removal, resizing, or recreation may incur additional art charges.
This will eliminate a huge percentage of the low-quality artwork customers send you.
