Whew! This spring might be our busiest yet and we certainly did not expect that. We are currently booking into September, and due to some tech issues with Google, we have put a pause on estimates to smooth out the kinks and focus on the work we currently have. 🙏🏻

Happy Almost Summer ☀️ !

If you’ve had a fence built by us in the last five-ish years, chances are pretty good that Pete was there. If you’ve met Pete, you know how lucky we have been to have had him work with us. He’s one of a kind. Grateful to get to work with him is an understatement. Excited for his new journey into the culinary world, but sad to say goodbye to him as Brett’s right hand fence man. While we still have a few weeks with him, we wanted to have a little send off today. See you later, Pete. We love you. 👨‍🍳

P.S. The person stepping into Pete’s position is also top notch

Our fifth year. Likely one of our more challenging years in the way of non fence life sorts of things. Though this Tuesday was certainly hard fence wise and the guys were warming their hands by the mini skid between nailing boards onto a horse paddock. The soaked through clothes and sore muscles and icy roads told us that its just about that time to put the season to bed. We don’t fence through the winter, and we’re thankful that next week will be our last for 2025.

Which leads us to how thankful we are that in 2025, I was mostly quiet here. We don’t advertise, and rarely do we remember to put up a yard sign. It was a kind of year where I couldn’t really put out fence content, and my already snail mail-esque response times got a little more snail-ish. Yet we were as busy as ever and it supported our family and the others who work with us. Our past customers have held us up with word of mouth and we are so grateful.

And the people? Pete is about to finish his fourth year, Andrew came back to the fence world (part time), and Forest recently jumped in late season to fill his days as they slow down at the farm. (Honorable mention to Nate the Neighbor for always filling in and bringing Brett a little extra joy.) We get to work alongside *the best*. You have good eggs installing your fences, truly.

We look forward to some rest, the winter solstice, and to Spring 2026 (which is already booking and will always be wild to me). 🙏

Thanks for working with us, for showing me grace on the response times, and for supporting such a small family business.

sure if hashtags are a thing anymore, but at least you know this isn’t AI because of my liberal use of parentheses.

We often get asked if we finish fences. In most cases, we refer out and this fence that we installed just got spiffed up thanks to Nice Painting LLC. Give them a call or send them a message if you would like to give your weathered cedar some love!

Last week, Pete presented at his niece and nephew’s school for career day. He shared the history of fences and helped kids assemble a small panel. He got this handwritten note from Scott, and it’s just about the best thing I’ve seen today.

☀️GPF hopes you got outside and used your hands to create something today.

We’ve been buying from since 2015. Their presence in this area matters and we are fortunate to be able to know our farmer. When we disconnect from where our food comes from, we disconnect from a lot more. We forget that the farmers, the builders, the craftspeople, the people who feed and shelter and work for us- they need to make a living in this capitalist world and sometimes, we might need to listen to a little bluegrass music on a fine summer evening and even smell a little chicken manure.

Thanks for feeding our family. We’d love to be your neighbor, but we hope this fence helps make home feel a little more secure.

After each job, Brett sends me photos. These are my favorite kind of photos to get. Not sure what sort of fence they did today, no.

🐍 Brett loves reptiles and amphibians, and so does our oldest. We’re also homeschooling this year and have focused heavily on reptile and amphibian conservation and have headed out for a few “Big Nights” to assist different species with safe road crossings during their migration out of hibernation to mate. If you need to drive on these rainy/warm evenings, keep an eye out for these creatures, and go extra slow near wetlands.

That’s your fence content for this rainy Monday.
