After Hurricane Ian, we walked job sites.

Our completed ICF homes: standing. Roofs intact. No breaches.

Neighboring wood-frame homes: roofs peeled, walls sheared, interiors exposed.

We've done this walk after every major storm for decades. The results are consistent enough that we stopped being surprised.

ICF construction doesn't bend under wind loads the way wood does. The mass of the concrete wall resists lateral forces. The thermal mass damps the pressure differential that tears roofs off.

This is physics, not salesmanship.

If you're building in Florida and you're not building with ICF, you're accepting a level of risk that you don't have to accept.

After a hurricane, the water damage begins. But the real nightmare starts weeks later.

Mold.

Wood-frame walls absorb moisture. When that moisture can't escape and in Florida's humidity, it often can't mold colonizes wall cavities. Slowly at first. Then fast.

Remediation is expensive, disruptive, and sometimes impossible without gutting entire sections of the home.
