Summer’s Here !!!
The time for camping trips , family picnics , and all sorts of fun in the sun!!!!
With that brings an assortment of insects and nuisance pests .
Ants are one of these pest.

As the summer starts getting drier and the ground hardens , these little workers forge for food more often .

Did you know that ants change their food sources minute by minute? It’s true , ants only forge for food that is needed by the colony , it could be sugars 1 minute , carbs another and proteins another . So not all over the counter baits will work effectively

And not all species of ants feed the queen as most may think .

Species such as Carpenter ants feed their larvae much like a bee colony . The workers forge and feed their larvae , the their larvae secretes the sugars or glucose needed to feed the colony. So bait will not totally get rid of these, if too many larvae die the ants will stop taking the bait and repopulate tenfold.
And NO, Carpenter ants do not eat the wood , they excavate it to make way for their colony , this is why you see piles of saw dust or frass left behind.
They also only colonize in damp wood , so if you see carpenter ants in abundance in a specific area of your home then most likely there is an underlying moisture issue that is drawing them to that area .

Pharaoh ants , although rare , are very different than most others as they have multiple queen to their colonies and can satellite or spread if not treated correctly… they look almost identical to pavement ants or the sugar ant that most are familiar with . A professional is needed to identify these little pests accurately. They usually colonies at the base of bushes and plants where a source of water is accessible.

Things Are Heating Up!!!!!

Summers here !!!! Flowers are blooming , birds are chirping , and bees are flying !!!

Carpenter Bees are starting to emerge and start damaging wooden structures .

Male carpenter bees although have no stinger, are large and aggressive.
Only the Females have stingers and do most of the gathering for food .

Paper Wasps have colonized in and on soffits
Yellow Jackets rapidly growing making their presence known , they are more aggressive with the formation of ground nests .
They will be starting to excavate drywall backing to make room for their hives, causing a real danger with breakthroughs into the living spaces

European Hornets have been showing their faces.
Bald faced hornets make there nests in trees and on structures. And they are large and dangerous

**Bee species are beneficial to the environment , however many are very dangerous. if Honeybees are identified, I personally will give you contact information for a bee keeper to call . Honeybees will not be exterminated unless it is determined that they pose an imminent danger to you and your family !! **

This was a big one !!! 85 lineal feet of rodent / Rat wall around a very large deck .

This involved moving lots of stone and mulch to get at the soil , trenching the perimeter 18ins down and roughly 10-12 inches away from the structure, a lot of cutting in to secure major areas of concern and the putting everything back and making it as if I wasn’t even there .

A lot of hours for 1 person but it’s so rewarding to see the smiles and look of relief once the job is complete !!!

April Showers Brings May Flowers !!

The season is upon us!!!!! As the temperatures are warming up , these pesky little critters are waking up. Carpenter bees have emerged and started damaging the wood on structures , paper wasps will start building their nests , yellow jackets will start to recolonize after a long winter slumber !!!

When you get rained out but still have a job to finish up ….. A Half day on a Sunday sometimes is required.

Garages are tricky , there are tons of factors involved when trying to exclude.

This customer is going to reside this garage so we needed to secure the wood and seal the holes so that when they side it there is no underlining issue after the construction .

This job gave tons of surprises lol . Things people back fill with is mind boggling 😂.

Another rodent wall / wildlife exclusion in the books and my customer is beyond happy !!
