Here we replaced the original filter hoses with flexible pvc. You can use rigid pvc but it is more difficult. We used unions on the ends to make assembly/disassembly easy. Also used sweep elbows to reduce flow restriction. On the front of the pump we put a ball valve so we don't loose water when opening the strainer cover. We offer all these parts in our store and our service department can do this type of installation if you are uncomfortable doing it. Pools Unlimited. Buffalo NY.

Well the pool season is upon us. Just want to revisit water chemistry for swimming pools. Many people who post on facebook and other forums say they don't test their water and do all kinds of other things. There are certain parameters that should be maintained to make sure the pool water is balanced for bather comfort and to protect your equipment from damage. Here is a water test we preformed today. The pool heater is leaking. As you can see from the test, pH is low. Alkalinity is low. Calcium is low. This means corrosive water in the pool. As this corrosive water flows through the heater, it strips copper out of the heat exchanger causing the heater to leak. This is not a warranty issue from any manufacturer. All of the manufacturers have recommended parameters for water chemistry which should be followed. Here is the water test and the copper test - the purple in the vial. Please heed this advice.
