Road construction work zones can present unique challenges for everyone on the road. Whether you're on the crew or behind the wheel, safety in work zones requires constant attention and situational awareness.

While our crews stay safe by wearing highly visible PPE, conducting daily safety briefings, and remaining alert around heavy equipment, drivers play just as big of a role in keeping the roads safe. Here are a few ways you can help keep both our crews and your fellow motorists safe:

🚧 Pay close attention to signs, cones, barriers, and flaggers guiding you through the work area
🚗 Slow down and stay alert to give yourself extra time to react to any changing site conditions
📵 Minimize distractions and keep your eyes on the road as work zone hazards can appear in an instant

Hear from two of our Safety Managers, Pat and Dave, from a recent project on a local roadway in Maine as they share why setting up proper signage and clear work zones is critical for protecting both our workers and the traveling public.

By staying vigilant together in these zones, we can ensure "Everyone Goes Home Safely, Every Day"!

As we wrap up Safe + Sound Week 2026, we want to extend a thank you to our entire team for spending their week doubling down on what matters most! From daily toolbox talks to handing out some summer-focused giveaways, we put an extra spotlight on taking care of our people both on the clock and at home.

While Safe + Sound Week gave us a dedicated time to refocus, safety is never just a five-day event. It's a daily commitment to look out for one another, make smart choices, and ensure that "Everyone Goes Home Safely, Every Day"

As July comes to an end and we head into another hot summer month, we wanted to spotlight the importance of staying hydrated. Our crews are doing incredible work on the roads every day and keeping everyone safe starts with smart hydration habits. These tips are not just for our construction teams, but for anyone spending time outside this summer.

Here are a few reminders from Michael, our Southern New England Safety Manager:
☀️Hydration is essential for everyone during the hot summer months, not just road crews
💧Drink plenty of fluids before you feel thirsty, since thirst is an early sign of dehydration
❄️Take advantage of air conditioning when it is available
🌡️Keep an eye on those around you for any signs of heat illness such as fatigue, confusion, excessive sweating, etc.
☁️Take breaks in the shade whenever possible

Check out the video below to learn more about hydration and summer safety from Michael!

Each and every day, our crews work hard to provide smoother and safer roads for motorists across the region. We're proud of the work we do, but we also want everyone driving on those roads to get home safely to their loved ones.

Today marks the first day of Operation Safe Driver Week, hosted by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance. This annual effort is a valuable opportunity to reinforce safe driving habits during one of the busiest times of the year on the road for our crews, drivers, and the traveling public. This week, our team will be getting involved by participating in additional training and safety discussions around the importance of safe driving habits.

It takes everyone to keep our roads safe, so please slow down, stay alert, and let's make sure "Everyone Goes Home Safely, Every Day".

We were honored to host Congressman Chris Pappas this week for a tour of our Wi******er, NH hot mix asphalt plant and quarry.

In addition to providing the Congressman with a firsthand, behind-the-scenes look at the full process of producing and testing the high-quality paving materials our roads need, we were also able to have a great discussion about some of the most important topics in our industry. As a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure that recently advanced the BUILD America 250 Act, Rep. Pappas brought great insight, knowledge and questions about critical items including long-term sustainable highway funding, local community needs and economic impact, material advancements and performance, work zone safety and workforce development.

We appreciate Rep. Pappas and his team taking the time to visit our facility and for supporting continued investments and advancement of critical legislature for our nation's infrastructure!

Thank you to the National Asphalt Pavement Association, National Stone Sand & Gravel Association, FP2, and everyone in the industry who continue to help lead the discussion around the importance of long-term investment in our transportation infrastructure!
