Kokosing Together, we can build it all. Kokosing's story has humble beginnings in the small rural community of Fredericktown, Ohio.

Two men began turning work into jobs so they could feed their families. Others joined them along the way, to become one of the largest construction companies in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic. Those values still ring true today as Kokosing, Inc. has grown to encompass transportation, industrial, and marine contracting capabilities as well as asphalt and aggregate supply. Throughout this growth and development Kokosing has stayed consistently grounded to the roots of its beginning.

Another major milestone achieved! This summer, Kokosing crews completed all three work windows to install jump spans on the Alexandria Station Improvements and King Street and Commonwealth Avenue Bridge Replacement Project in Alexandria, VA for Virginia Railway Express (VRE) and Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA).

These temporary supports are a key step in enabling construction beneath active rail lines and behind bridge abutments while keeping rail service running and maintaining access for roadway users and pedestrians. Crews are now advancing excavation and micropile foundation installation for the permanent bridge abutments. The completed project will improve accessibility, enhance passenger experience, and modernize critical rail infrastructure for VRE and VPRA.

This summer, Kokosing Construction began work on a unique project involving the 118-year-old Roche de Boeuf Bridge over the Maumee River in Waterville, Ohio.

Early project efforts included clearing trees, earth and debris from the bridge and uncovering its historic arches. We’re now working on the installation of a stone causeway alongside the bridge, which will allow equipment to be positioned safely so crews can access and work on the overhead structure. Additional work includes partial demolition of spandrel walls that have become hazardous due to deteriorating concrete.

The bridge is an important part of the region’s history—and preserving its integrity is our priority.

Phase 1 demolition is underway on ODOT’s I-480 Bridge Deck Replacement & Resurfacing Project over Stow Road in Summit County, Ohio to renew a key connection between Hudson and Twinsburg Townships.

This important project includes replacing the bridge decks, resurfacing I-480, and improving Stow Road beneath the structure—helping strengthen long-term performance and safety while keeping this critical route operational.

Featuring a unique slab bridge design: temporary steel falsework supports concrete placement before being removed, leaving behind a bridge constructed entirely of reinforced concrete. This specialized approach helps maximize clearance for the roadway below.

This year, we’re welcoming a new class of team members to our Accelerated Development Program (ADP)!

ADP is a professional development program for emerging leaders who demonstrate our Core Values, initiative, and dedication. Participants from across our companies and a variety of departments will learn from senior leaders, strengthen their understanding of each business unit, and gain insight into day-to-day operations across Kokosing.

As part of the program, participants will visit active project sites to see how preconstruction planning translates into field execution—connecting estimating, scheduling, means and methods, safety planning, quality control, and coordinated crews and equipment to deliver the work.

Kokosing currently has 30 Central Ohio students in our internship program, joining us from twelve different schools and working across eight different departments. Not only are they learning our safety culture, forming systems, and gaining hands-on industry experience, but their daily tasks directly support our projects across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic.

We appreciate the hard work they’ve brought to our teams and can’t wait to see what they accomplish next. We’re also grateful for the strong partnerships with schools, career centers, teachers, and administrators who help create opportunities like this for students to prepare for their future!

Inspiring the next generation of skilled trades professionals with a field trip to our marine yard in Cheboygan, MI!

Career and Technical Education pathway students from Mi-STEM Network’s Northeast Michigan Region summer program recently visited Kokosing to learn more about opportunities in marine construction. Students toured our yard and shop facilities while learned about Kokosing's marine projects taking place across the Great Lakes. We’re proud to help students see firsthand the wide range of careers in our industry and the pathways available to turn their interests into impactful work.
