No heat? Don’t assume the furnace is broken just yet.

Before scheduling a service call, check:

- The thermostat: Set it to HEAT and make sure the temperature is set above the current room temperature.
- The furnace switch: Make sure the switch near the unit hasn’t accidentally been turned off.
- The air filter: If it’s dirty or clogged, replace it.

If the furnace still won’t start, the problem could be related to ignition, sensors, or system controls and should be checked by a technician.

If you smell gas, leave the home and contact your gas utility immediately.

Uneven heating can be caused by something as simple as a blocked register or by bigger airflow issues like leaking ductwork or limited return air.
