This Lakewood kitchen renovation was designed to create a more connected, functional space for everyday living. The original layout caused congestion and made simple tasks like cooking and gathering feel more difficult than they should.
Working closely with the homeowners during the design phase, we developed a plan to improve both flow and usability. We were able to open the space and create a layout that feels intuitive and easy to move through.
A new island with seating for four now serves as a central gathering space, while also adding everyday functionality. Because the rear entry functions as the home’s primary entrance, we also incorporated mudroom-style storage, including a custom built-in bench to help keep coats, shoes, and daily essentials organized.
Material and finish selections were chosen to create a timeless look that feels consistent with the rest of the home. New cabinetry, a custom tile backsplash, detailed finish carpentry, and solid hardwood flooring all work together to create a cohesive, seamless transition between spaces.
The end result is a warm, thoughtfully designed kitchen that supports how this family lives day to day—balancing function, organization, and lasting craftsmanship.
