Soil and Water Management Systems We are a family owned business of almost 30 years specializing in Farm Drainage, Water Management, G

Soil and Water Management systems is a family owned and operated business that was started by Mike Cook in 1987 following a business purchase from the retiring Gene Platte. Mike is a 3rd generation tile contractor, beginning with his grandfather tiling his own farm ground, followed by his father John, who owned and operated Cooks Drainage in Peck, MI (ownership now belongs to Larry, Mikes brother)

. Mike went to Ferris State University to get a degree in Surveying Science, then went on to be a consultant for Hancor Inc, before finding the business opportunity Gene Platte had in the form of a Steiger tractor with a plow mounted on it. Now, the business has expanded, first with the purchase of a self propelled Inter-Drain drainage plow, and has continued improving; becoming the first in the world to have GPS machine control on a drainage plow.. Today, SWMS has 2 RWF Bron plows and is an AGPS machine control systems distributor. Soil and Water Management Systems is now ran by Mike, as well as his 2 sons Nate and Adam. Nate has taken on the responsibilities involved with the GPS distribution company, while Adam is involved with the drainage portion.

Check it out!

We recently sponsored a camera to be put on our shop for the Michigan Storm Chasers Facebook group! They also have other social media outlets which they provide live, accurate weather as it happens. These guys are always on top of the storm, no matter when it's happening, and it's awesome to now be a part of their network!

Check them out! Our camera may be featured the next time a storm rolls through, or even the next time the northern lights are out!

Weather camera #46 has entered the chat!

This one is located in Westphalia, MI and is sponsored by Soil and Water Management Systems! This camera faces west-northwest and provides us a WIDE open view across open fields. This is a much needed spot as well, with southern-central lower being our biggest dead zone for camera coverage. Thank you to Adam for reaching out to us to make this happen, and as always, shoutout to GarJen Technologies LLC for doing the install and being the equipment provider for our camera network!

More cameras coming soon!

Camera sponsorship opportunities for Fire Departments, EMA, municipalities, etc.. are still open for those with self install capabilities! Please fill out the form below if you are interested. https://form.jotform.com/mistormchasers/selfinstall

It's that time of year again that SWMS is NOW HIRING for 2 laborer positions!

We offer competitive pay, benefits to those who stick around, and salary pay so there is no weather related layoffs or short pay weeks. We are a family owned company who likes to make it's employees feel appreciated and needed.

Applicants must be content with working outside on your feet all day, using a shovel, and working independently occasionally and be trusted as needed. A good employee will be willing to learn a variety of new skills, while working with the other crew as a team to efficiently finish tasks.

Please have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to work daily at our shop. Typical work hours are 7-5 weekdays, but will occasionally be more during busy times.

If you have prior experience in drainage, labor, mechanic work, welding, or a CDL, those things are a plus but not necessary.

Apply today! Our busy season will be starting very soon!

We're hiring again! Fall is shaping up to be busy and we need more help. We primarily need laborers who are willing to learn from the ground up (pun intended)... A CDL or the willingness to get one will be a big plus.

We're hiring!
General laborers needed for what's typically 7-5 every week day. Starting pay $18 for entry level, and can improve with experience and good work ethic. Working outside, doing manual labor to help install drainage systems in farm fields will be your job, which requires a variety of tasks that will take on the job training. Eventually you will have an opportunity to learn some heavy equipment operation. Company offers a good list of benefits like retirement and commission bonus to reliable employees. Also salary pay for consistency, and no seasonal layoff.

Need to be able to reliably commute to our shop in Westphalia every day and have a driver's license. If you have experience with mechanic work, welding, or a CDL, that is a plus, but won't be your primary position. Send a message or comment here for more info or to set up an interview!

Our company is a family owned and operated business of almost 35 years. We do local work installing farm drainage systems. The duties of this job include a variety of manual labor tasks to keep our machinery moving. We understand most people will come in as entry level to the position and that's ok, this is an opportunity to receive on the job training within our company, using laser and gps systems, bulldozer, back hoe, excavator, and skid steer. If an applicant has experience welding, mechanic work, or a CDL that is a plus, but not required. All we do ask is that you have a driver's license and show up to work every day.
