Printing on metal works a little differently than our other print processes.
For dye-sublimated metal prints, the image is first printed in reverse onto transfer paper. The printed sheet is then secured to the aluminum and placed into a heat press, where heat and pressure transfer the image onto the surface.
Print. Tape. Press. Finished.
We've produced these using both aluminum and ACM, with options including a traditional metallic surface or a white-coated finish.
It's one of two ways we can produce metal prints in-house at Contract Picture Framers. We can also print directly to metal using our Mimaki flatbed printer, giving us another option depending on the artwork and the finished look a project calls for.
