SAFETY IS MORE THAN WHAT HAPPENS ON THE JOBSITE.
The hazards we traditionally think about in construction—falls, struck-by incidents, electrocution, caught-between hazards—aren't the only threats to our employees' lives. The data shows that su***de is a major occupational health issue in construction as well.
Coworkers, friends, family members, and people we see on our jobsites every day are at a higher risk of death by su***de than by a jobsite accident.
Looking out for each other means looking out for the whole person. If something doesn't seem right with a coworker, check in. Ask the question. Listen. And don't be afraid to connect someone with help.
There is tremendous power in sitting with someone as you (together) call the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline
If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988. It's free, confidential, and available 24/7.
For our Spanish-speaking employees and families, call 988 and press 2 to reach a trained Spanish-speaking crisis counselor.
