Exciting things are ahead for Marshall County Schools! ✨

Plans are moving forward for the new $30 million Riverside Elementary School in McMechen, which will give students a modern learning environment designed with safety, space, and the future of the community in mind.

We especially loved hearing Superintendent Shelby Haines share how MKA's flythrough has helped students and staff see the vision for their new school come to life. From choosing the Riverside Royals name and mascot to keeping the school’s blue and gold colors, it’s exciting to see the school community already making this new space their own.

We’re proud to be part of a project that will have such a lasting impact on students, families, and the McMechen community, and we can’t wait to watch Riverside Elementary take shape! ☺️

Students are officially walking the halls of the new Midland Trail Elementary School in Fayette County, WV! 🏫

From groundbreaking to welcoming students through the doors, this new school was completed in just 16 months, an exciting accomplishment for everyone involved in bringing the project to life.

We’re proud to have been part of creating a new learning environment that brings together students and staff from Ansted and Divide Elementary Schools. It was especially rewarding to hear Fayette County Schools share their excitement about the finished school and what it means for their students, staff, and community.

We once again had a great time at the Mountaineer Brewfest; fantastic craft beers from West Virginia’s finest craft breweries, awesome live music, and great camaraderie with several friends and coworkers (outside the office).
We were once again the Main Stage Sponsor ("McKinley Stage Entertainment Sponsored by McKinley Carter Wealth Services and McKinley Architecture and Engineering "), and also a Brewery Sponsor for Parkersburg Brewing Co.
Over the years the event has raised over $320,000 for local charities, and this year’s proceeds will benefit the Wheeling YMCA .
We are already looking forward to next year’s event!

This past weekend, our summer intern Corinn Brewer competed in the 2026 Women’s Decathlon World Championships, where she broke the combined events 1500m World Record with an incredible time of 4:50.76! Corinn came home with an event win in the 1500m, decathlon personal bests in both the 100m hurdles and 1500m, and a 12th-place overall finish among a growing field of elite female decathletes. 🏅

Her accomplishments extend far beyond this weekend. Corinn is the U20 American record holder in the women’s decathlon, the 8th-best female decathlete in U.S. history, and finished 5th at the 2025 Women’s Decathlon World Championships.

Corinn is also helping lead the movement to make the women’s decathlon an NCAA and Olympic event. While men have competed in the ten-event decathlon for decades, women are still limited to the seven-event heptathlon at the highest levels of competition. Through her involvement with the growing “Let Women Decathlon” movement, Corinn continues to advocate for change, raise awareness, and help create more opportunities for future generations of female athletes.

We’re proud to have Corinn as part of our team this summer and even prouder to see the impact she’s making both on and off the track. Congratulations!!!! 👏🏃‍♀️

🎭 A New Stage for Student Success at Martinsburg High School

McKinley Architecture + Engineering is proud to showcase the full interior renovation of the Martinsburg High School Auditorium, creating a modern performance space for students, staff, and the community.

The renovation included removing the existing plaster ceiling to expose the structure, installing new acoustic panels, upgrading the sound and theatrical lighting systems, adding new seating, and expanding the stage. The auditorium also connects directly to the new band suite, creating a seamless flow between rehearsals and performances.

Designed to enhance both functionality and the performing arts experience, this renovated space will serve Martinsburg High School for years to come!
