We're going to get cold the next few days and in Minnesota, we have to worry about more than keeping ourselves toasty warm. If you're worried about your pipes freezing here are some steps you can take to help prevent it:
Let water drip: Allow a slow, steady drip from faucets on exposed pipes (especially those on exterior walls) to keep water moving. A little higher water bill is worth not paying thousands in damages.
Keep heat consistent: Maintain your thermostat at a consistent temperature, even at night, and set it to at least 55°F if you leave home.
Open cabinets: Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors under sinks to let warm air reach pipes.
Close garage doors: Keep garage doors shut if there are water supply lines in the garage.
Stay warm and stay safe this weekend!
