Building Trades students get hands on access in the professional trades while they work to build a house from the ground up. This program is certified by the Association of General Contractors of Vermont and builds a brand new energy efficient house from beginning to end on a two year cycle. During this process, students will learn everything from beginning tool safety and blueprint reading right
up through residential plumbing and electrical. Upon program completion, students are qualified to walk into most entry level positions within the building trades arena. However, students may also choose to use the articulation agreement and begin studies at Vermont Technical College or even pursue an apprenticeship through the Vermont Department of Labor. The Hartford Area Career and Technology Center is committed to maintaining a learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, ancestry, religion, gender, gender identity, age, marital/civil union status, national origin, sexual orientation, place of birth, military/uniformed service or veteran status, disability, genetic information, having a positive test result on an HIV related blood test or other legally-protected classification.
