A neighbor of a client this week...an older gentleman.

Spent the past two days watching our crew work — no words, just paying attention.

As we were cleaning up the site, we turn around a he had brought us a cooler with iced down Dr. Peppers. He pulled me aside, smiled, and said

“I gotta say, your crew, they’re something special. Hardworking, respectful, and they don’t cut corners.”

He turned back to the guys and said

“You don’t see that kind of work or that kind of respect very often these days. Y’all earned this."

That meant a lot — not the drinks, but the recognition. The recognition of the crews hard work, the recognition of the details, the understanding of the process, and the respect for making sure we leave everything better than we found it.

Before we left, we walked to his garage where he sits to shake his hand and say "Thank you" one more time, as we walked away he casually said "Yall did a pretty good job over there by the way". It made me realize that he didn't show us respect for the work we did, he showed us respect for how we treated eachother, others, the equipment and the land while we did it. He recognized the quality of work last.

It’s not just about what we build. It’s about how we do it.

And that’s the kind of respect we’ll always work to earn.
