PREVENT FROZEN PIPES

With freezing temperatures in the forecast, Brass Plumbing wants to provide a week of tips to help good Texomans protect their homes from frozen and leaking pipes!

DAY 7

Thawing frozen pipes: If your pipes do freeze, don’t panic!! You can thaw them out by using a hair dryer or space heater. Go low and slow and be prepared to shut off the water supply at the first sign of a water leak (Refer to tip #1). Never use an open flame to thaw pipes!

DAY 5

Open cabinet doors: Open vanity or cabinet doors to help warm air reach the pipes under sinks and inside walls. If you have exposed pipes inside closets or pantries, leave those doors open too.

Drain outdoor water lines: Disconnect and drain hoses and close valves on outdoor hose bibs. Cover hose bibs with an insulated cover. Winterizing your home is crucial and preventing outdoor water pipes from freezing is an easy first step.

Where was Brass Plumbing founded?

Right here in good ol' Burkburnett, Texas. When Brass Plumbing owner, Terence Skinner, retired from the U.S. Air Force, he wanted to put his many years of plumbing experience to good work. After working for some of the local plumbing guys, he knew he wanted to start his own business that focuses on quality workmanship and a dedication to service.
