We know the quality of your project comes down to the apprentices, tradesmen, and crew members on your property. That’s why we invest heavily in our team through mentorship, on-site training, an online training platform, and trade events.

New construction gives you a short window where the best outdoor upgrades are also the most cost-effective. Here are 3 things we recommend thinking through early:

Plan the outdoor living space before the basics go in
Before grass, irrigation, fences, gates, and final grading are locked in, it’s often the easiest time to curate an outdoor living area that prioritizes rest and privacy.

Do the install right the first time
Sod, planting beds, edging, and flower beds only look “finished” long-term if the base is right. If sod goes down on a rough finish grade (divots, low spots, poor drainage), you’ll feel it for years.

Think through funding early
Some homeowners explore rolling landscaping into the overall home project instead of paying out of pocket later. It’s worth talking with your builder and lender early so you can choose what fits your situation.

3 things to consider before investing in your outdoor living space

A new patio, outdoor kitchen, lighting, or water feature is exciting, but the best projects are the ones you still love years from now. Before we rush into design or construction, here are 3 questions worth slowing down for:

Will this bring us joy long-term?
In the excitement of a remodel, it’s easy to rush the design and the build. A little patience up front usually pays off for years.

How will this improve our quality of life and family connection?
What do we actually want to do outside: host, relax, cook, play, gather around a fire? Once we’re clear on that, we can design around what matters most.

What future regrets can we prevent right now?
Common ones: skipping the outdoor kitchen, going too minimal on lighting, or choosing one feature that blows the budget and forces us to cut something we really wanted (like trading a water feature for a simplified lighting plan, or vice versa).
