No blooms=no fun. And the culprit might be your pruning timing.
💡 PSA: Some plants bloom on “old wood,” which means they set buds in late summer or early fall the year before. If you cut too late, you’re cutting off next year’s show. Here’s your gentle nudge to prune now, right after flowers fade, not later.
Now’s the time to prune these if they just finished blooming:
❀ Rhododendrons
❀ Azaleas
❀ Lilacs
❀ Weigela
❀ Flowering Dogwood
💡 Rule of (green) thumb: prune after bloom. Still unsure? Research your specific variety before reaching for the shears.
